Hard Rubbish & Junk Removal in North East Adelaide

Hard rubbish and household junk carried out from wherever it is — no verge pile, no 2 cubic metre limit and no waiting for a council booking.

5.0 out of 5 stars from 17 Google reviews (opens in a new tab)

Council hard rubbish collections are a great free service — when they suit. But they come with a volume limit, a list of things they won’t take, a wait for a booking and a pile on the verge in the meantime. When that doesn’t work for you, we’re the alternative.

Send us a few photos of what needs to go. We’ll give you a fixed price, turn up at the agreed time, carry everything out from wherever it is — the back room, the shed, under the house — and take it away in the same visit.

Council hard waste vs private hard rubbish removal

Across the north-east, councils offer free hard waste collections each financial year. City of Tea Tree Gully residents get two at-call collections through Solo Resource Recovery, capped at 2 cubic metres each, with no single item over 50kg or longer than 1.5m. In the Salisbury and Playford council areas, NAWMA offers two free services a year — a kerbside pick-up of up to 2 cubic metres, or a voucher for one 6x4 trailer load at a Resource Recovery Centre.

Those collections generally won’t take green waste, building materials or tyres, everything has to be out on the verge before the truck comes, and bookings can mean a wait of several weeks. If you’ve got more than 2 cubic metres, a mix of rubbish types, items that are too heavy to drag to the kerb, or you simply need it gone before an inspection, a sale or a move, private hard rubbish removal is the faster, simpler option.

Use both — we’ll tell you honestly

If what you’ve got fits neatly into a council collection and you’re not in a hurry, use it — it’s free. Plenty of our customers book their council pick-up for the easy items and get us in for the rest: the green waste, the old pavers, the broken shed shelving and the things too heavy to get to the verge on their own.

Not sure which way to go? Send us the photos anyway. We’ll give you a straight price and, if a council collection would do the job just as well, we’ll say so.

Local Know-How

Hard Rubbish in Adelaide: what to know

South Australia has its own rules for what can go to landfill and what has to be recycled. Here’s what matters for this kind of job.

Council hard waste has limits

North-east councils offer free hard waste collections, but with caps: Tea Tree Gully gives two free at-call collections a year (hard waste or mattresses), while Salisbury and Playford households get two NAWMA services a year of up to 2 cubic metres. None of them take green waste or building materials — that’s where a private removal fills the gap.

E-waste can’t go to landfill in SA

Since 1 September 2013, whitegoods, TVs, computers, fluorescent lighting and other e-waste such as vacuum cleaners and power tools have been banned from direct disposal to landfill in South Australia. Appliances and electronics we remove are separated and sent for recycling, and householders can drop TVs and computers off free at NAWMA’s Resource Recovery Centres.

SA’s waste levy rewards recycling

Every tonne of rubbish landfilled in metropolitan Adelaide attracts the EPA’s solid waste levy — $171 a tonne in 2026–27, paid by the disposal site and passed on in tip fees. Sorting green waste, metal and cardboard out of a load keeps it out of landfill, which is better for the environment and helps keep your price down.

Free drop-off for paint and chemicals

Paint, household chemicals, oils and gas bottles can’t go in a trailer load or a bin. NAWMA’s Edinburgh North Resource Recovery Centre and the Campbelltown Works Depot on Newton Road both take household chemicals, gas bottles and liquid paint free under the Green Industries SA and Paintback schemes.

Our Process

How a hard rubbish job works

No guesswork and no surprises. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you get in touch to the moment we drive away.

  1. 01

Photos of the pile (or the room)

Snap whatever needs to go, wherever it is right now. There’s no need to drag anything out to the verge or stack it neatly first — that part is our job.

  2. 02

One price for the whole lot

Mixed loads are quoted together: furniture, a mattress, a broken trampoline, some green waste and a few old pavers can all go on one fixed price.

  3. 03

    A time that suits you

Rather than waiting for the next available council slot, we book a time that works around your move, inspection, settlement or weekend.

  4. 04

    Confirm what stays

On arrival we walk through what’s going and what isn’t, so nothing you meant to keep ends up in the trailer. If there’s more than the photos showed, you get the revised price before we load it.

  5. 05

    Carried out and sorted

Everything is carried out by hand and sorted as it’s loaded — metals, green waste, cardboard and reusable items are separated from general rubbish.

  6. 06

    Nothing left on the kerb

No verge pile for neighbours to pick through or for the wind to scatter. The area is swept when we finish, and you get a tax invoice with our ABN.

Transparent Pricing

Upfront prices, explained

Hard rubbish is priced on volume and material. A load of light, bulky furniture costs less to dispose of than the same space filled with concrete, soil or tiles, so photos let us price your actual load instead of quoting a vague range.

There’s no 2 cubic metre cap and no item-size limit. Big loads are simply quoted as big loads, and if a job needs two trips we tell you that upfront rather than half-finishing it.

If part of your load would suit a free council hard waste collection, you’re welcome to use that for those items and only book us for the rest — the price drops accordingly.

What affects the price

  • Total volume of the load
  • Heavy materials such as bricks, pavers, soil or concrete
  • Mattresses and tyres, which carry their own disposal fees
  • Long carries, stairs or tight access

Pay by card, cash, bank transfer or Afterpay. Every job comes with a tax invoice.

How We Work

Professional on every job

A hard rubbish job often means going through years of stored belongings. We work at your pace, double-check anything that looks like it might be worth keeping, and set aside items for donation if you ask us to.

We leave the property the way we’d want ours left: gates shut, paths clear, floors protected while bulky items come through the house, and no stray rubbish left behind on the lawn or the footpath.

  • No verge pile, no waiting
  • Mixed loads on one price
  • Anything you want kept is double-checked
  • Reusable items set aside on request
  • Area swept when we finish

FAQ

Hard Rubbish FAQs

Can't see your question? Send us the job details and we'll get back to you.

Is it better to wait for a council hard rubbish collection?

If your load is under 2 cubic metres, contains only items the council accepts and you’re happy to wait, the free council service is great value. Book us when you have more than that, mixed rubbish, heavy items, or a deadline.

Do I have to put the hard rubbish on the verge?

No. We collect from wherever the items are — inside the house, the backyard, the garage or the shed — and carry everything out ourselves.

Can you take hard rubbish the council won’t?

Often, yes. Green waste, small amounts of building material, and loads bigger than the council limit are all fine. We still can’t take asbestos, chemicals, liquid paint, gas bottles or other hazardous waste.

How much hard rubbish can you take in one visit?

There’s no fixed cap. Most household loads fit in a single trip; if yours needs a second load, we’ll tell you before the job is booked so the price is clear.

Can you collect hard rubbish while I’m at work?

Yes, if the items are somewhere we can reach — a carport, the backyard or an unlocked shed. Just confirm access details when you book.

Do you donate or recycle anything?

Where practical, yes. Metals, cardboard and green waste are separated for recycling, and usable items can be set aside for donation on request.
