Golden Grove hard rubbish: council collection or private removal?

Golden Grove is in the City of Tea Tree Gully, where hard rubbish is handled by Solo Resource Recovery. Residents get two free at-call collections a year (hard waste or mattresses), booked through Solo, with up to 2 cubic metres per collection, no single item over 50kg or longer than 1.5m, and waits that can stretch to several weeks. The council service won’t take green waste, building materials, e-waste, tyres, chemicals, gas bottles or paint.

Council hard waste is good value if you can plan ahead and fit within the limits. When you can’t wait weeks, have more than a couple of cubic metres, or need green waste, building materials or a whole garage cleared, that’s where we come in — we take it in one visit, from wherever it is on the property.

Tips and drop-off sites near Golden Grove

If you’d rather take a load yourself, the nearest public drop-off sites for Golden Grove residents are NAWMA Resource Recovery Centre, Pooraka (Research Road) and NAWMA Resource Recovery Centre, Edinburgh North (Bellchambers Road). The council runs Enviro Care — free green waste drop-off days for residents at St Agnes Recreation Park on Smart Road — for leaves, clippings and branches up to 20cm thick (cars and trailers only, no contractors). For the things we can’t take — old paint, household chemicals and gas bottles — NAWMA’s Edinburgh North Resource Recovery Centre and the Campbelltown Works Depot on Newton Road both take household chemicals, gas bottles and liquid paint free under the Green Industries SA and Paintback schemes. And remember South Australia’s rules: TVs, computers and whitegoods are banned from landfill, and eligible bottles and cans are worth 10c each at a container deposit depot.
