Highbury is in the City of Tea Tree Gully, where hard rubbish is handled by Solo Resource Recovery. Residents get two free at-call collections a year (hard waste or mattresses), booked through Solo, with up to 2 cubic metres per collection, no single item over 50kg or longer than 1.5m, and waits that can stretch to several weeks. The council service won’t take green waste, building materials, e-waste, tyres, chemicals, gas bottles or paint.

It’s worth using if your load is small and you’re happy to wait. Book us instead when it needs to be gone this week, when it’s more than the council limit, or when it’s the kind of rubbish council collections won’t touch — garden waste, renovation debris or a full clean-out.

And remember South Australia’s rules: TVs, computers and whitegoods are banned from landfill, and eligible bottles and cans are worth 10c each at a container deposit depot.
